Astronomy Cameras — Now With USB 2.0 Connector

We are delighted to announce that we are now shipping a new line of astronomy cameras with a USB 2.0 connector.

The new USB astronomy cameras are technically identical to their FireWire counterparts, with the exception of their interface to the outside world.

As all PCs ship with a USB interface nowadays, deploying USB cameras is more straight forward than FireWire cameras. This is especially the case for laptops: Their USB interface can power the cameras and thus an additional power supply is no longer necessary.

The USB astronomy cameras ship with:

  1. Telescope adapter
  2. IC Capture.AS (camera control software )
  3. 1.5m USB cable

Please contact us, or post comments below, to discuss this new line of USB astronomy cameras.

My relatives are too tight to give me the money for one of these eminently desirable cameras, so I think I’ll just slip on my balaclava and duck down to the bank! ;-)

On second thoughts, I think I’ll save for it instead.

    Hi,

Thanks for the update, it is good to know the USB is standard as it opens up connectability potential to any system I am operating.

I just need to make a decision to go black and white and use filters, or just get the color model. Decisions, decisions.

But regardless there has been some fantastic imagery shown by other amateurs recently, particularly the moon, the images were so clear one amateur stated it looked like the camera was in orbit. So the potential for the rest of us as to what we can do with these cameras is very exciting.

Hello Gilbert: All our resellers in France (and all other countries) can supply you with the new USB 2.0 cameras. Just ask them. The majority of our resellers are still in the process of updating their web sites with the new cameras.

I received my camera about a month ago DMK21AU04AS, from Rider’s Hobby Shop in Livonia, Michigan.
I was the first to receive this great camera in the State of Michigan and I must tell you I am excited. I have already taken pics of the Moon and am going to use this camera to the limit.
This camera is small, easy to use and compact with one wire hanging off the telescope. Looking forward for clear skies in Mi. to use and will send copies of photo’s as I get them.

Thank You and am looking forward to more technology from Imaging Source.

Hello Gilbert: As I said, it sometimes takes a while before the resellers have updated their web sites. Just ask and Galileo will sell you one.
