Setting Up the Repository on Ubuntu

03. Feb 2008 The repository layout has changed! Please update your repositiories according to these instructions! If you have used the repositories previously, you need to change contrib to main in your sources line.

Thanks, this seems to work well.

I used the standard/pre-installed USB drivers - without reinstalling or rebooting.

Installed ucview and it works. Looks like a good replacement for luvcview. (luvcview does not look like it's well supported and needs some obscure library libsdl1.2)

My camera is a vega (built-in on Samsung R70) with Ubuntu 7.10.

Hi,
I bought a cheap camera just for domestic use. It is a cheap USB camera with 3.5MP to use it with my Linux Box (Kubuntu Feisty Fawn). The camera is sell here (Brasil) by AOC. The Linux recognized as a:
UVC 1.00 device Vega USB 2.0 Camera. So I googled for a uvc driver.
I tried the Belkin, but it works randomly. I get to this site. I follow your instructions and "voilà". The ucview show a clear image!. Furthermore, I have the other camera (a Creative Vista Live ) that works with the spca driver. The ucview let choose from one to the other camera without a problem. No other software (Camorama, gpcagui, etc.) let me work with both cameras.
Well, I just want to let you know another success story, not exactly in the astronomy field.
I mainly use the camera in video conference with my colleagues physicist from abroad
thank you for your job
