Just in time for the European AstroFest in the Kensington Conference and Events Centre in London, UK this year, we have published the USB 2.0 Astronomy Cameras Flyer. It is intended to offer an introduction to The Imaging Source astronomy cameras.

Laurent has published the following lunar image on his web site. In French, he writes:
Réalisée avec caméra DMK au foyer télescope 200/1000mm. Traitement mosaique registax et imerge.
Translated into English for our global audience:
Captured with a DMK camera, mounted on a 200/1000mm telescope. Post-processing into a mosaic image was with RegiStax and IMerge.
Thanks go out to Laurent for sharing this with the astronomy cameras community.

Hoping to up the stacks in our ongoing highest resolution image of the moon competition, Robert Reeves has sent in the following mosaic image (click to enlarge):

In his e-mail to ProfJohn, he writes:
The Moon has risen high enough to allow an imaging session before passing into the trees, but the jet stream continues to target Texas. Thus I have not yet been able to do successful high resolution with a 2.5X Barlow. But Saturday night I was able to image at prime focus and create a large mosaic of the crescent moon. It prints 11″X14″ at 300 DPI and did not turn out too shabby. This is all the detail I can eek out of the Moon under the current shimmering seeing conditions.
[...]
Thank you for your help. The camera is a joy to use now that it performs consistently.
Thank you Robert for your photo.
If you have created a high resolution mosaic image of the Moon, please send it in to us.
Does anyone have a 5000px x 5000px plus image?

Mike Salway took the trouble of sending us a composite image, showing the best planetary images that he captured during 2007.
Accompanying his image, Mike writes:
All images were captured with my 12″ newt on EQ6, with DMK 21AF04, 5x powermate, Atik manual filter wheel and Astronomik RGB filters.
I’m disappointed I didn’t make any effort to capture Mercury or Neptune, but in 2008 I’ll definitely be doing so.
I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that 2008 will bring, especially with another great season of Jupiter coming up!

This year, one of my colleagues and I will be attending the European AstroFest in the Kensington Conference and Events Centre in London, UK.
The event, which is being organized by Astronomy Now, will take place on February 08, 2008 and February 09, 2008. The organizer promotes the event as the UK’s biggest astronomy show.
If you would like to meet up with us, please drop us an e-mail, with “AstroFest 2008 Meet Up” in the subject. We still have a few time slots free.
See you there!
