Sebastian Voltmer’s Saturn Capture
Sebastian Voltmer, who is slowly becoming a regular in this blog, wrote to us again this week, sending in the following image.

In this e-mail, Sebastian writes:
For our non-German speaking readers, below is a translation:
Attached is an image of Saturn, which was captured on January 13, 2008. It is one of the first images of Saturn, which I have captured with the color camera DFK 21AU04.AS. Using the USB [2.0] connector, it was very easy to capture 30 frames er second, in order to calculate the sharpest singular image. Despite the camera not having a monochrome CCD, it is still has relatively little noise and even the faintest of details show up well. Hence, it is not necessary to take time-consuming singular captures with an RGB filter set. All in all, you save a lot of post-processing time with the DFK 21AU04.AS.
A great thanks goes out to Sebastian for sharing this amazing image with the astronomy cameras community!
Keep up the good work!

I have purchased a Celestron Nexstar 6SE and wonder if it would be possible to capture an image like the one shown with the DFK 21AU04.AS or similar with this size telescope and also what other equipment is required. I am a novice but impressed by such images taken by keen amateurs.

The planet Saturn, the divison of Cassini and your rings are very beautiful in the photo.
Many signs of above surface are in evidence.
good image.
Thanks for information

More one thing
Are building one observatory in my city.
In near future I precise of one CCD.
My telescope have 310 mm of diameter - f/6,7.
Equatorial mount with motor-drive.
Thank you for attention
