Astronomy Cameras Competition Winner - Fabrice Dulaurent

We are delighted to announce that Fabrice Dulaurent has just won one DMK 21AU04.AS.

Congratulations!

We have just sent him an e-mail confirming his win and asking his to send us his full postal address, so that we can dispatch his prize as soon as possible!

Judging by his e-mail address, I would guess that this month, the winner is based in France.

The Astronomy Cameras Competition is a monthly event, meaning that you can now enter again for this month’s prize. Even if you participated in last month’s competition, you may enter again this month. This month, we are offering one of our new USB 2.0 astronomy cameras - DMK 21AU04.AS.

Sebastian Voltmer’s Saturn Capture

Sebastian Voltmer, who is slowly becoming a regular in this blog, wrote to us again this week, sending in the following image.

In this e-mail, Sebastian writes:

For our non-German speaking readers, below is a translation:

Attached is an image of Saturn, which was captured on January 13, 2008. It is one of the first images of Saturn, which I have captured with the color camera DFK 21AU04.AS. Using the USB [2.0] connector, it was very easy to capture 30 frames er second, in order to calculate the sharpest singular image. Despite the camera not having a monochrome CCD, it is still has relatively little noise and even the faintest of details show up well. Hence, it is not necessary to take time-consuming singular captures with an RGB filter set. All in all, you save a lot of post-processing time with the DFK 21AU04.AS.

A great thanks goes out to Sebastian for sharing this amazing image with the astronomy cameras community!

Keep up the good work!
