Stunning Image of M57

Recently an imager from Canada sent one of the nicest pics of The Ring Nebula I’ve seen from any CCD. This pic just happens to be from our most popular AstronomyCamera to all the enthusiasts, the DMK 21AF04.AS. Gerald, from Canada, writes:

Hello Profjohn,

I recently purchased the DMK 21AF04.AS camera for planetary imaging, but
decided to try some deep sky imaging with it. I thought I would pass
along this image of the Ring Nebula obtained with the camera.

Review in Amateur Astronomy Magazine

Robert Reeves, the author of Introduction to Webcam Astrophography and Introduction to Digital Astrophotography has published a review of The Imaging Source’s line of Astronomy Cameras in the Winter 2008 edition of Amateur Astronomy Magazine.

In the review, Mr. Reeves covers everything from The Imaging Source company history, to naming the Astronomy Cameras, to IC Capture camera control software usage. It is an extermely favorable review and a must read for those in The Imaging Source community. All of the stunning images Robert includes in the article are snapped with a DMK 41AU02.AS looking through a Celestron C8. If you would like to check out Robert’s books, take a look here: http://www.robertreeves.com. They are definitely worth a peak!

Vallis Alpes from the Midwest

Sometimes when life is a bit chaotic as it has been this last past few weeks, it is a pleasure just to stand back, look into the heavens, and see an old friend. Here is an old friend from one of The Imaging Source’s Premier Resellers in the Midwest, US, Rider’s Hobby Shop.

Profjohn,
Attached images were taken with the DMK 41AU04.AS, big camera. The seeing conditions were very average at best and I continue to be amazed at how well the DMK’s can “beat” the seeing! The widefield shot is at f/10, the Vallis Alpes image closeup at f/25 using a Celestron 235mmSCT.
