This picture was captured by Elliot Severn. Elliot is based in Stratford, CT. He takes astronomy photos with a DBK 21AU04.AS.
I was solar observing in my backyard in Stratford, CT and decided to take some photos before this beautiful sunspot group disappears behind the sun’s eastern edge. This image was taken through my 10″ Odyssey dobsonian with a thousand oaks solar filter and DBK21 camera.
Thank you Elliot! Do not hesitate to send us more.

The following Jupiter photos were submitted by American Astrophotographer Theo Ramakers, who has been using DMK 21AU04.AS astronomy camera for years and has captured some brilliant astronomy photos.
Earlier this month he managed to take these Jupiter images with unusual meteorological details below the North Equatorial Belt.
Jupiter
Tech info included in his mail:
Here my image of Jupiter made in the morning of August 12th of what some people call the “boring” side of Jupiter. This time the side is not boring. The image gives a nice view of the two disturbances between the NEZ and NEB. I have been using my DMK21AU04.AS for several years and love the results I get with it. My RGB images are made using an orion filter wheel and orion filters with the exception for the luminance filter which is a Baader. I stack my images with emil Kraaikamp’s Autostakkert and post process them in Photoshop.
Visit my website for the rest of my images made with the camera including the transit of the ISS with the sun a few weeks ago. http://ceastronomy.org/tramakers

Having attempted for several times, Spanish amateur astronomer Javier Carrillo eventually captured the view of an aircraft flying across the frame of a solar H-alpha image.
Javier also put this video on Youtube so that we can see the clip easily in the browser:
Here is what he wrote in the mail:
My name is Javier Carrillo, and I’m a user of TheImagingSource cameras from Torrejon de Ardoz (Madrid) SPAIN After some attempts ,I have reached the goal of capture a plane crossing the Sun, with the help of a DMK 41AU02.AS. At last I have done!!
Telescope Orion eon 72mm and solar filter LS50F with the camera at primary focus, an IR cut filter.

Californian Astrophotographer Jim Ferreira has made a name for himself in this community with his H-alpha photos. On the afternoon of 28.July,2010, he photographed a complete prominence eruption process with his DMK 21AU04.AS camera.
Details were included in his email later that week:
Shot this late Wednesday afternoon, just before sunset. Was setting up and testing the Ha filter on a shorter FL scope when I saw this outbreak occurring. Very rapid. Of particular note were a half dozen or so very bright, very small spots that brightened and faded in less than a minute as the main plasma body dissipated – frame 8 shows a couple of the brighter spots. Lots of fireworks!

This Jupiter photo was sent from Efrain Morales. Along with the photo, he also made an vivid animation with 10 frames, partly monochrome and partly color.
The animation is too wide to fit in this blog, but you can still open it in the browser by clicking here.
Here is what Efrain told me in the mail:
I am submitting these images one is a still and the other a gif animation sequence consisting of three Lum only and seven RGB sets to make this animation with my DMK 21AF04.AS camera. Jupiter’s two moons were transiting they are Ganymede and Io showing both showing albedo features on the surface and there casted shadows on the surface of the planet. Turbulance at the NEB with a very dark spot at the center of the swirl and the SEB with a pronounce light green dual rings a possible re-awakening?
Many thanks go to Efrain for his continuous support on this blog!
